Wedding dresses are the most important part of any wedding ceremony. Adorned by the bride while taking the oath to a life of togetherness, wedding dresses have to be selected properly keeping in mind the style, color as well as the religious and culture of the bride getting married.

Social importance and grandeur of wedding dresses

Weddings are not just a sweet union of two individuals based on love and trust. Weddings unite the two families as well. Sometimes, weddings may be a union between two business families or even two different countries. So many people come to witness a marriage and hence a bride is expected to dress accordingly in her marriage, to project her family in a good light and to withhold the family pride.

Brides hailing from families having a superior social standing generally wear expensive fabrics having rich colors and texture. Expensive furs, silks are also a common view. One style is most prevalent for a particular time and then quickly changes, as customer demands change. 1920’s generally saw wedding dresses which were short in the front and longer trail in the back. 1940’s had brides reverting back to the Victorian style of long, full skirts. Nowadays wedding dresses are generally white though generally ivory, eggshell and ecru shades refer to “wedding white”. White dress was generally considered to symbolize purity and virginity. However nowadays, it is merely traditional and has no such symbolic statements.

Weddings are one of the most important and special event in any woman’s life. Every woman wants to look her best during her wedding and marry the man of her choice. Types of wedding gowns

Wedding gowns have many styles. One has to choose the style according to their body shape and structure. Brides having an hourglass figure or a petite figure prefer a ball gown type wedding dress. Empire type waist gowns are generally recommended for women who don’t have a defined waistline. A-line or princess type gowns generally look good on any bride and are the most preferred type. Sheath style gowns should be worn by brides who are petite and have a thin frame. Full figured or brides having a thick waist shouldn’t opt for this type. Mermaid style gowns are for brides who have a figure to show off. Besides the style of the gown, one must also keep in mind the type of sleeves to be chosen and the veils as well. Jewellery complementing the wedding gown should be chosen appropriately to complement the look.

Beach type wedding dresses

Many brides want their wedding celebration to be unique and a bit different from the rest. Hence they instead of marrying the conventional way in a Church, they opt for beach type weddings. With beaches from Goa to those of Hawaii, there are so many beaches to plan your wedding in.

A beach type wedding however rules out long flowing gowns. With a sun in the background, appropriate colorful and comfortable dresses have to be designed, which will enable one to enjoy the tan as well. There are many designers who specialize in beach type wedding dresses.

For beach type weddings, only a very close circle of friends are invited and there is more of enjoyment and frolic involved. There is a party and after party, the newly wed couples are off for their honeymoon. Hence to be in tune with the mood of the party, beach wedding dresses are very colorful and unconventional.
